The Music Industry playing a big part in my life, there has been noticeable drastic changes in the way the music system has had to work to reach an audience that still appreciates the music, I could talk to hours about this topic but here is the quick over view!
Jamal Edwards also known as ‘SB’, is not your ordinary 19 year old boy from London, it all started at the age of 16 he had a keen interest for filming & music. He saw a slight gap in the market and combined this together with a camera given to him by his mum for Christmas, and set up a YouTube account to help establish his own media company “SB.TV” which is now today in its own right the UK’s Number 1 online broadcasting youth lifestyle channel. With over 20 million views, and now averaging 1 million views a month.
The channel with caters for urban youths like myself which plays a variety of “Grime” & “R’n’B” and gives viewer the chance to get closer to an artist, experience their rise to global recognition for example “Tinie Tempah, Tinchy Stryder & Chipmunk”. This has kind of pushed the need of the mainstream further away from the target audience they ever so want to reach.
This has become a favourite with global artists as well as music fans, with people across from America such as former Destiny’s child member “Kelly Rowland” doing an interview and others like “Drake, Trey Songz, RedOne” and many more. This simple hobby with took the UK by storm by an YouTube account, and has changed the way in which music labels think. Instead of creating an artist, for the public they have been forced to find artist’s that have generated their publicity because people just don’t want to see the same old generic “top 10 music” anymore. As well as this, advert companies have realises if they still want to reach their audience getting of “SB.TV” is a must! So their is many instances where, companies now pay to get their adverts played before one of “SB’s”
videos, in a TV type situation... and this is only the start!
A Product Branded by 'SB' "A64" which is a current big hit giving the chance for artist to do Acoustic covers.
Im a big fan of London Artist Devlin, But The Last Time I Checked.. "The Sun" was a newspaper.. Now they are bringing out similar Videos. Underground Music/Videos Trending?, I think so.
